The woman who accused Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs of sexually assaulting her after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards has been heard on a recording admitting Jay-Z “didn’t have anything” to do with the sexual acts – and that her lawyer “pushed” her to sue.
As ABC News reports, the lawsuit against Carter and Combs has since been withdrawn with prejudice, meaning it cannot be revived.
The recording is an exchange between the woman, known anonymously as Jane Doe, and two private investigators associated with Jay-Z.
However, Lawyer Buzbee denied these allegations and called the recording a “pieced-together fabrication”, and said the idea that he pushed her into suing Jay-Z a “blatant lie”.
Carter’s attorney, Alex Spiro, denies that Jay-Z has ever met Jane Doe.
Jane Doe said she stands by her claims but dropped the lawsuit because of “fear of intimidation and retaliation from Jay-Z” and his fans.
Jay-Z is now suing her and Buzbee, accusing them of “false and malicious” allegations. He claimed they engaged in an “evil conspiracy” to extort him with “completely fabricated” and “wildly horrific” claims of rape.
