Jason Henzell Reflects On Jimmy Cliff’s Passing; Food Rum Reggae Festival To Aid Treasure Beach Recovery

The official funeral service for reggae legend, Jimmy Cliff is set for Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

The Announcement was made by Culture Minister Olivia Babsy Grange.

News of his passing on November 24 shocked the world with many paying their respects to the singer, via social media. Jimmy Cliff who's also an actor, having starred in the internationally acclaimed "The harder They Come", among other films, was 81 years old.

"The Harder they Come was directed by Perry Henzell, who's son, Jason spoke with the Zee at Sunday's staging of the Treasure Beach Food, Rum and Reggae Festival. He reflects on Jimmy's passing and his legacy.

Meantime, following the passing of hurricane Melissa, Directors of the Treasure beach food, rum and reggae festival, On Sunday, held a scaled down offering of the event, to aid with relief efforts in St. Elizabeth.

The event was originally set for November 7-9 in Treasure Beach.
