The Jamaica Agriculture Society (JAS), has joined a recent call, for a dedicated Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, to oversee the ministry, in the wake of the resignation of Floyd Green, and the subsequent appointment of Audley Shaw.

Mr. Green resigned his ministerial post last week, after a video surfaced on social media, showing him at a party where there were breaches of Covid-19 protocols.
President of the JAS, Lenworth Fulton is urging the Prime Minister to reconsider the merging of the Industry Commerce and Agriculture portfolios, as he believes, the integration of the two, will slow the progress of the Agriculture and Fisheries sector.
Mr. Fulton also sought to clarify, that the issue is not about the selection of who should oversee the Agriculture and Fisheries portfolio, but that it should be separated from the Industry Investment and Commerce portfolio.
