Jamaican students, who sought refuge in Ukraine’s underground metro system in Kharkiv, during Russia’s invasion have boarded a train to a next city.
According to one student, efforts to board a train earlier today (Fri) were futile, due to a stampede when hundreds of people tried to escape Kharkiv, which has become the site of explosions, as Russia continues its assault.
The student explained that another attempt to leave was made afterwards and they managed to board a train, which departed earlier today.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is reporting that 23 Jamaican students are now on a train heading for Poland..
Portfolio Minister Kamina Johnson Smith informed that Jamaica has contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland and obtained an assurance that the students will be allowed entry and safe passage.
