Trevor Forrest, Senior Advisor to Science and Technology Minister Dr Andrew Wheatley, says artificial intelligence training will soon become mandatory for government workers across Jamaica’s public sector.

The programme aims to help public servants understand AI, its ethical use and how it can improve efficiency within ministries, departments and agencies.

Speaking at the Jamaica Diaspora Conference in Montego Bay, Forrest said some workers remain hesitant about adopting new technologies due to fears of job displacement.

He argued that greater AI adoption will enhance government services and improve citizens' interactions with public institutions.
