Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) says the Government has received over $1.4 billion in donations following Hurricane Melissa.
Director General Alvin Gayle revealed that more than 17,000 donors contributed, with about 80% of funds coming via bank transfers.
Approximately $146 million has been spent on roof repairs, helping to fix over 410 homes, alongside donated roofing materials valued at $400 million.
An additional $320 million has been allocated to procure construction equipment to boost disaster resilience efforts.
The remaining funds will support ongoing recovery projects, including modular housing and other national preparedness initiatives.
