Today, July 1, 2025, the world celebrates International reggae day under the theme One Love, One Voice, One Day.
For 31 years, International Reggae Day has celebrated the culture, legacy and sound that began right here, in Kingston, Jamaica.
The idea for International Reggae Day came to its founder, Andrea Davis, after hearing a speech by Winnie Mandela, who spoke about the inspiration reggae music gave to the people of South Africa in their fight against apartheid.
Motivated by this, Davis launched the first International Reggae Day in 1994.
