Jamaica is celebrating its 64th anniversary of independence today, August 6, with the annual Grand Gala celebration taking place at the National Stadium.
The country gained independence from British colonial rule on August 6, 1962, marking the end of nearly three centuries of colonial governance.
Speaking with The Zee, Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Chief Executive Officer Lenford Salmon highlighted the planning and preparations behind this year’s Grand Gala event.
