The Jamaica Administrative Athletics Association has waived the usual $500 entry fee for athletes competing at this year’s CARIFTA Trials.

JAAA president Garth Gayle said the decision was made to help schools and athletes affected by Hurricane Melissa, particularly in western Jamaica.

The association also announced the same waiver will apply to athletes competing at the National Junior Championships in June.

Gayle thanked PUMA for its sponsorship support and noted that entry fees were originally introduced to reduce no-shows from athletes.
