ISSA Wants Local Sporting Bodies Who Benefit From Their Competitions To Help With Funding

With high school competitions serving as key feeder systems for national teams in most local sports, ISSA President Keith Wellington is urging sporting associations to contribute financially to their respective competitions in a bid to boost athlete development.

The call comes as the 2024-2025 school year recently ended, wrapping up a packed calendar of ISSA-organised events across various disciplines.

Students from urban and rural schools competed in football, athletics, cricket, basketball, netball, volleyball, table tennis, and more — competitions Wellington believes are vital to Jamaica’s sporting pipeline.
