The International Olympic Committee says Belarusian athletes will be allowed to compete under their national flag again, easing previous restrictions linked to the war in Ukraine.
However, the IOC confirmed that Russia will remain suspended from Olympic competition due to ongoing concerns, including doping and the war.
The committee said athletes should not be penalised for government actions, and noted Belarusian athletes have already competed as neutrals without incident.
The decision comes as qualification begins for the 2028 Olympic cycle, with Russia’s status still under review.
