The country is to receive increased rainfall, this weekend.

The Met Office explained that a tropical wave, which is moving across the Eastern Caribbean, is expected to move across Jamaica tomorrow (Fri).

The wave is currently producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms.

The forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times, to start affecting western parishes early Friday morning before spreading across the remainder of the island during the day.

Additionally, strong gusty winds are expected to affect the island.

And, Tropical Depression Number Five, became Tropical Storm Elsa early this morning (July 1).

It is expected to move across sections of the Eastern Caribbean on Friday.

Tropical Storm Elsa is currently not a threat to Jamaica, but the country is likely to be impacted by severe weather conditions from the system.
