There’s a Trough currently across the central Caribbean influencing weather conditions across Jamaica for the past few days.

The Met Service says satellite imagery and rainfall reports indicate that moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms have occurred across most parishes and especially southern parishes during the last few days with reports of hail over Kingston.

Current projections are for the Trough to remain across the region for the weekend. Afterwards, a broad area of Low Pressure is expected to develop south of Jamaica by Monday.

A further increase in unstable weather conditions is therefore expected across the island beginning on Monday morning.

As a result, the current forecast is for scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms across most parishes for Saturday and Sunday.

Afterwards, expect cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which could be heavy at times, along with

strong gusty winds to affect sections of all parishes beginning Monday morning and continuing through to at least mid-week.
