INCREASE IN COVID CASES AND POSITIVITY RATE

The Ministry of Health and Wellness recorded 276 new COVID-19 cases yesterday (May 12).

This has increased the country’s positivity rate from 15.6% to 28.2%. The new cases consist of 168 females and 108 males, ranging in age from 10 months to 89 years.

St. James had the most cases with 58, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 41.

The Health Ministry also reported 4 new COVID-related deaths, which occurred between April and November of last year. The deceased consist of 3 females and 1 male, between the ages of 68 and 86, from St. Catherine and Westmoreland.

Meanwhile, 65 people are now hospitalized with the virus. Nine are moderately ill, two are severely ill, and two are critically ill.
