Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is demanding millions in unpaid royalties from Universal Music Group (UMG), claiming the label has withheld her earnings for years.
In a series of posts on X, the “Fancy” rapper said UMG has failed to pay her international royalties throughout her career. She also revealed that the company tried to settle with a much smaller payout than she believed she owed.
Azalea signed with Island Def Jam under UMG in 2013, later moving to Island Records before leaving the company in 2018. But even after her departure, she says UMG is still holding back money she earned—especially from overseas.
Beyond her own situation, Azalea also criticised UMG’s treatment of artists in general, hinting at bigger issues in the industry.
So far, UMG hasn’t responded to her claims. This isn’t the first time the label has faced accusations of withholding royalties from artists.
