“I have no reason to create mischief nor make up stories” says Buju Banton in Response to Daryl Vaz Fake News Claims

Buju Banton is doubling down on his claims of theft after Minister of Telecommunications and Transportation debunked them in the latest Hurricane Melissa press briefing this morning.

This is what Minister Vaz had to say:

Minister Vaz then followed up with a series of posts to X, backing up his claims with video, photo and documented evidence to supporting that the items were sealed when taken from the plane. He wrote "An investigation was immediately launched and in the interest of transparency I must share the details of the findings."

Over on Instagram, Buju Banton responded with the same photo previously posted of the half empty barrel, beginning the captions with "Minister Vaz, with all due respect, I can see that you remain unaware of how things went. The goods were not taken from the plane to our trucks but instead taken from the plane to an area we had no sight of." Banton went on to say "Seals were broken and things were taken. I have no reason to create mischief nor make up stories. As usual, you have tried to make this political."

As of now, Minister Vaz is still denying the items were stolen by airport staff as Buju Banton alleges, writing on X, "The issues at customs exist and I am not denying that. However, this shipment and these items… Did not go missing at our ports."
