The Health and Wellness Ministry has activated its National Ebola Virus Disease Response Plan.

This in the wake of the World Health Organization WHO’s declaration of the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, as a public health emergency of international concern.

The Ministry’s response plan is being activated to increase awareness, educate stakeholders and prepare the country for any eventuality.

The Ministry said it will be sensitizing all relevant categories of persons, including the members of the health team, ministries, departments and agencies and the public heightening surveillance activities at points of entry and scheduling sensitization sessions for healthcare workers.

Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton while speaking in Parliament yesterday (Tues), sought to assure that arrangements are in place, to enable an appropriate response in the event that Ebola gets into the country.
