Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Christopher Tufton, is reiterating the call for Jamaicans to get vaccinated, citing that recent hospitalisation data prove vaccination continues to be an effective tool in combating Covid-19.

Speaking recently Dr. Tufton noted that the majority of hospitalized patients who are critically, severely and moderately ill, are unvaccinated.

He said up to last Wednesday, 96 per cent of the patients in hospitals who were moderately ill were unvaccinated.

95 per cent of those severely ill were unvaccinated and some 86 per cent of those critically ill were unvaccinated.

He implored Jamaicans who are able to take the vaccine to do so to avoid serious illness, hospitalisation and death associated with Covid-19.
