HEALTH MINISTER HAILS NURSES AS “HEALTHCARE HEROES” ON INTERNATIONAL NURSES DAY

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton is commending the nation’s nurses for their commitment to healthcare.

In his International Nurses Day message, the Minister highlights that nurses are heroes of health and an invaluable resource to the public health system.

Dr. Tufton said nurses in Jamaica are central to the public health system noting that their unwavering dedication in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic has amplified the important role that they play, especially in difficult times.

International Nurses Day is observed each year on May 12 in recognition of the birthday of Florence Nightingale.

This year’s observance is being recognized under the theme, “Nurses: A Voice to Lead, A Vision for Future Healthcare.
