Health Minister Dr Christopher Tufton has announced the creation of a new department to independently investigate complaints and service issues within Jamaica’s public health system.
The initiative includes surprise inspections, mystery patients, and performance reviews aimed at improving accountability and healthcare standards.
Tufton said major investments in hospital infrastructure must be accompanied by better customer service, professionalism, and staff welfare.
He also revealed plans for a new Kingston Public Hospital as part of an integrated health campus with Victoria Jubilee Hospital.
