Health and Wellness Minister Christopher Tufton says Jamaica’s health sector could see improvements in the coming months as the Government moves to address a shortage of specialist nurses.
He said recruitment efforts are being expanded through partnerships with the diaspora, as well as agreements with countries such as India, Ghana, and Nigeria.
Mr. Tufton also confirmed that a team from Apollo Health System has signed an agreement with Jamaica to support training and recruitment.
He added that an international recruitment unit has been set up and that efforts are underway to fast-track hiring to fill critical gaps in the system.
