Hayden Panettiere’s death is taking another heartbreaking turn as new reports point to a possible fentanyl-laced pill.
According to TMZ, sources believe the 36-year-old actress took a pill allegedly given to her by her longtime Los Angeles drug dealer before traveling to South Carolina, where she later died. Authorities are reportedly investigating the circumstances, but her official cause of death has not been confirmed pending toxicology results.
Panettiere was reportedly found unresponsive in a South Carolina condo with her on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, who administered Narcan before paramedics arrived.
Hickerson and Panettiere had been dating on and off since 2018, with their relationship previously marked by multiple domestic violence incidents and his arrests in 2019 and 2020.
Now, Hickerson is making headlines again after reportedly being handcuffed following a weekend altercation at a South Carolina bar. He was reportedly not arrested in connection with that incident.
Panettiere, best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, was 36. She is survived by her 11-year-old daughter and her parents.
As investigators continue looking into what happened, the full picture is expected to become clearer once her toxicology results are released.
