A proud nation stood to its feet and saluted the Reggae Girlz as they scored their first Women’s World Cup goal today in a 4-1 defeat to Australia.

Substitute Havana Solaun scored the historic goal, after routing the Australian keeper, following a defence-splitting pass from Khadija Shaw.

The loss meant the Girlz first World Cup came to an end following two previous losses, however they were successful in inspiring Jamaicans at home and abroad with their spirited performance.

The Girlz are now making arrangements to return home.
