Guyana President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali says the government aims to eliminate the country's housing backlog by the end of 2027, except in Region Four.
The administration has already distributed more than 53,000 house lots but faces a backlog of up to 78,000 applications due to rising demand.
President Ali said new housing schemes, land acquisition and infrastructure projects are being accelerated to address the shortage.
The government is also expanding affordable housing and financing programmes to help more Guyanese families become homeowners.
