Although it will end earlier than usual this year, and despite the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Grand Market activities that take place on Christmas Eve, and which normally see tens of thousands of Jamaicans flocking to towns like Linstead, Falmouth and Brown’s Town as well as sections of the Corporate Area, will be allowed to take place.

However, this year, the activities which normally run into the early hours of the morning on Christmas Day, will end with the 10pm curfew that will be in force during the month of December.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness, who made the announcement as he addressed the House of Representatives on Tuesday, is urging Jamaicans to, as much as is practicable, observe the health protocols that are in place to limit the spread of the coronavirus, even while they take part in Grand Market activities.
