Gov’t to Bring in 3rd Mobile Carrier

The government is moving to have a third telecommunication provider in the Jamaican market next year.

Technology Minister Daryl Vaz yesterday disclosed during a media briefing, that Cabinet has given approval for the process for granting a third licence to start.

Pressure has been building on the government to introduce more competition in the telecoms market, especially amid widespread complaints of service interruptions faced by customers of both major providers.
