The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Mining is strengthening Jamaica’s livestock sector by improving the way animals are identified and tracked.

New measures include adding more animal technicians, recruiting community assistants, and increasing the supply of cattle tags.

These efforts according to the ministry aims to improve service delivery and reduce the current tagging backlog.

The initiative will also help protect farmers' livelihoods and support the fight against praedial larceny.
