The Opposition People’s National Party (PNP) says its call for Prime Minister Andrew Holness to resign is justified.
The call follows the tabling of an Integrity Commission report relating to Mr. Holness’s statutory declarations.
The Integrity Commission determined that no charge should be laid against Prime Minister Holness in relation to reports of statutory declaration breaches but sent the report to the Financial Investigations Division.
Speaking during a press conference this morning, Opposition Leader Mark Golding stated that, according to the commission, Mr. Holness’s statutory declarations cannot be certified until the investigations are concluded.
Mr. Golding expressed concern that Jamaica has a Prime Minister who is under investigation, noting that this is marring the country’s image.
He reiterated the call for the Prime Minister to resign or call a general election.
