GLENMUIR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IS NATIONAL SPELLING BEE CHAMP

Clarendon parish champion Darian Douglas is the National Spelling champion after winning the The Gleaner’s Children’s Own Spelling Bee competition.

Douglas from Glenmuir High School, topped 13 spellers from other parishes to lift the trophy this afternoon.

His coach Errol Campbell has now had three consecutive winners.

11-year-old Douglas will now move on to represent Jamaica at the Scripps National Spelling Bee competition in Washington DC later this year.
