The fashion world is mourning the passing of Giorgio Armani.
The legendary Italian designer reportedly passed away peacefully at the age of 91 due to an undisclosed illness.
The Armani Group confirmed earlier today (September 4), Thursday, stating, "With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force."
The Armani group also noted that Mr Armani worked devotedly on the brand and its projects until his final days.
Known as “Re Giorgio”, Armani founded his iconic fashion house in 1975, pioneering women’s tailored suits and dressing countless Hollywood stars.
He had been in declining health, missing Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week in June for the first time, and reports indicate family succession plans are in place.
Armani’s death comes just months before the 50th anniversary of his company, marking the end of an era but still leaving an imprint on the fashion worldwide.
