Over the weekend, the Zee went to the Launch of GATFFEST. The Greater August Town Film Festival, or GATFFEST for short, is a community-based film festival in Jamaica. It was created through the Greater August Town Film Project, an initiative by the Uni-versity of the West Indies (UWI) Community Film Project to em-power youth from under-resourced communities through film and media training. Savannah Peridot Festival Director of GATFFEST speaks to the Zee about the changes in the themes of the local films entered in the festival.

GATFFEST This year is also spotlighting the future of Jamaican film with the Carimac Film Night that features both live action and animated works by current students of the school.

GATFFEST will also features international themed nights that are to include selections from France, Germany, Brazil, Canada and the United States this year.
