Prior to the attack of American actor from the Empire series, Jussie Smollett on Monday, Fox Studios in Chicago was sent a death threat addressed to Smollett. The letter said “You will die, black ***”. The letter was sent a week before the attack.
According to popular online blog, TMZ, Fox Studios stepped up security for the entire cast after the letter was received. They also offered Smollett off the clock security to protect him at all times, but the actor turned down the extra muscle. The FBI and Chicago police are currently investigating the threatening message, attempting to discover if the letter and the attack are connected.
The empire star was assaulted in Chicago. Jussie was outside a subway restaurant when two men wearing masks reportedly questioned him asking if he isn’t the homosexual Empire cast member then attacked Smollett, who attempted to fight back but was overwhelmed. The two men beat him down, fracturing his rib.
