A rare, preserved lock of hair from Reggae legend Bob Marley is expected to sell for up to $33,000USD at a UK auction next month, offering collectors a piece of iconic music history.
The 1.5-inch dreadlock was taken after a teenaged fan approached the global music icon after a performance at BBC Television Centre in June 1978. Recalling the incident, the now adult fan said, "After Bob Marley had finished singing, myself and a friend went up unto the platform where he was performing. He was chuckling away and I asked if I could take off a piece of his hair. He just kept nodding and chuckling...And of course he gave me his autograph as well."
The autograph is included with the lock of Marley's hair and is valued at £4000 pounds. The loc, among more than 50 other rare historical items will be featured in The Memorabilia Auction and will run online until April 9.
