FORMER UNIVERSITY LECTURER IS JAMAICA’S 6TH CORONAVIRUS DEATH

A former lecturer at the University of the West Indies has become the sixth person to die from the coronavirus COVID-19.

Dead is chemistry professor Tara Dasgupta.

His death was confirmed by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jacqueline Bisasor McKenzie at a press conference last night.

Meanwhile, Jamaica now has 223 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

This after the National Influenza Center revealed yesterday that an additional 27 samples returned positive test results.

The update was given by Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton at a virtual press conference yesterday.

 

Dr. Tufton said to date, 27 people have recovered.
