Former Prime Minister Edward Seaga has been laid to rest.

His remains were lowered to his final resting place at National Heroes Park a short while ago, following a Funeral service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kingston.

Hundreds of supporters and dignitaries paid thier final respects to the man widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of Jamaica as we know it today.

A massive tent was pitched opposite the church to accommodate scores of mourners clad in green, the colours of the ruling party that Seaga led from 1974 until his retirement in 2005.

Among the tributes at the 2-hour-long service, included Former Prime Minister PJ Paterson, Governor General Sir Patrick Allen, current Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Mr Seaga’s cousin Metry Seaga.

Mr Seaga was 89 years old when died, on his birthday on May 28 in Miami, Florida.
