Former People’s National Party councillor Roogae Kirlew was fined $200,000 in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court for failing to file statutory declarations with the Integrity Commission (Jamaica).

Kirlew, now principal of Spanish Town Primary School, pleaded guilty to not filing declarations for 2019, 2020 and 2022.

His attorney said illness during the COVID-19 pandemic and confusion about the filing process caused the delay.

The court fined him $80,000 for 2019, $120,000 for 2020, and admonished and discharged him for the 2022 breach.
