From the pageant stage to Jamaica’s entertainment scene, LaToya Malcolm left her mark and her legacy is now being carried forward.
The former Miss Universe Jamaica finalist was laid to rest Saturday (August 22) at Central Assemblies of God Church in Kingston, just over a month after her passing at 35.
Malcolm spent more than a decade as an actress, dancer and entertainer. She also worked as a dance instructor and with the Transition Project, supporting young people.
During her funeral, Minister of State Delano Seiveright announced the LaToya Malcolm Scholarship for Resilience, a $100,000 initiative supporting two high school students.
Malcolm competed in the 2024 Miss Universe Jamaica pageant and later won the Miss Jamaica Bikini International title, dedicating the victory to her late father.
Her impact continues to be remembered by Jamaica’s entertainment and pageant communities.
