At least one stakeholder in the fishing industry is encouraging fisherfolk to act with caution when carrying out their duties at sea.

This after a shark attacked a fisherman in Clarendon at the weekend.

The fisherman survived but has been left with injuries.

Committee Member of the Jamaica Fisherman Co-operative Union, Shawn Taylor said shark appearances are becoming more frequent, especially with changes in the climate.

Mr. Taylor noted that the weekend’s shark attack is not the only incident of such kind to have occurred.

He warns that fisherfolk must look carefully before taking a leap when at sea.
