The police are advising attendees of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Annual Conference at the National Arena tomorrow (Sunday) that firearms, drugs, knives, ice picks, machetes, long umbrellas, glass bottles, or any other items that could be used to cause harm, will not be permitted inside the venue.

According to a release issued today (Sat), licensed firearm holders are informed that arrangements have been made for the safekeeping of their firearms at the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) offices on Old Hope Road, St. Andrew, during the event.

Additionally, the police clarify that no firearms storage will be provided at the Stadium Police or any other police stations.

All attendees are also being reminded that all patrons will be subject to security checks upon entry, and any potentially dangerous items will be confiscated.

Motorists are also being advised that the Road Traffic Act will be strictly enforced. Specifically, drivers are cautioned against allowing passengers to hang from car doors, sit on top of vehicles, or extend any part of their body outside of the vehicle.

Drivers are also urged to adhere to speed limits and avoid reckless or careless driving on the roads.
