Education Minister Fayval Williams has been named the new Minister of Finance, succeeding Dr. Nigel Clarke, who stepped down to become the Deputy Managing Director at the International Monetary Fund IMF.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced the appointment this morning (Wed), marking Clarke’s departure from Jamaica to start his new role at the IMF.
In response to the vacancy at the Ministry of Education, Prime Minister Holness appointed Senator Dana Morris Dixon as the Minister of Education and Youth. Additionally, Matthew Samuda will rejoin the Cabinet as a Minister without portfolio, overseeing Water.
