Culture & Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange has expressed sadness following news of the passing of reggae legend Cocoa Tea.
Cocoa Tea passed away early yesterday, following a prolonged illness. He was 65 years old.
In statement, the Minister described the entertainer as “one of our greatest Reggae singers ever.” Minister Grange said she spoke with Cocoa Tea late last year and he had expressed an interest in coming home to Jamaica to perform, despite his illness.
She said there were also discussion surrounding plans to 'celebrate Cocoa Tea's life & legacy.
Cocoa Tea is known for hits such as , Sweet Sweet Cocoa Tea, I Lost my Sonia, Holy Mount Zion, Rocking Dolly, Rikers Island among others.
Minister Grange extended sympathy to Cocoa Tea's wife, Malvia and his children; relatives, friends, and associates and to the music fraternity.
