Emmy-nominated actress Taraji P Henson is developing a spin-off series centered around her iconic “Empire” character “Cookie” Lyon.
This comes as a part of a two-year first-look deal she signed with the show’s distributor, 20th Century Fox Television.
Reports are that Danny Strong, who co-created “Empire” with Lee Daniels, will serve as a co-showrunner on the planned series along with Stacy Littlejohn and Yolanda Lawrence. .Both Henson and Daniels will produce the show that they have long teased.
the new/ old series would focus on Cookie Lyon taking her talents to LA.
“Empire” ended its six-season run abruptly in April of this year – curtailed by COVID-19
The spin-off does not have a title yet.
