It is being emphasized to public school administrators that the initial disciplinary measure should not be to prevent children from entering the school grounds due to rule violations.

This is aligned with the Ministry of Education and Youth’s initiatives to lessen discriminatory behaviors in schools while fulfilling the demand for student discipline.

While acknowledging that schools operate in a variety of situations, Minister Williams stated that preventing students from joining schools violates both the 2004 Child Care and Protection Act and article 28 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
