Canadian rapper Drake is busy these days investing and growing outside of the music industry.

According to financial publication, Bloomberg, the rapper has purchased a stake in Daring Foods, a plant-based company that produces vegan chicken.

Based in Los Angeles, Daring Foods Inc. has raised $40M USD in its series B funding from investors including Drake.

Several media outlets report that the investments will reportedly help Daring Foods expand its retail distribution to more than 4,500 U.S. stores in 2021. Its products are currently available at stores like Kroger, King Soopers, Costco, and Sprouts.

Founded in 2018, Daring Foods’ mission is to remove chicken from the global food system, citing what it claims are the industry’s unethical treatment of animals and negative impact on the environment.

Drake is not the only entertainer backing faux meat, Serena Williams and Jay-Z also have been in the mix.

Drake has been open about his veganism, revealing in a 2018 interview that he was no longer eating meat.
