Drake Taking Legal Actions Against Universal Group And Spotify

Share

Canadian rapper, Drake has filed lawsuits against Spotify and Universal Music Group for allegedly conspiring to inflate the popularity of Kendrick Lamar's anti-Drake song, "Not Like Us," using payola, bots, and other tactics.

According to reports, the “Marvin’s Room” rapper and his legal team filed a pre-action petition in a Manhattan court yesterday (November 25).

Drizzy alleges that UMG controlled airwaves and streaming services by paying Spotify to advertise Kendrick’s “Not Like Us’ to consumers and bribed Apple to redirect Siri intentionally reroute people who were looking for Drake’s song to “Not Like Us” instead.

Drake is requesting that the court force UMG and Spotify collect all the relevant documents ahead of the pending lawsuit.

According to reports, UMG has “refused to engage” in the matter and has instructed Drake to sue Kendrick instead.
