Shai Gilgeous-Alexander seems to be taking LeBron James' spot, just not on the basketball court, all thanks to Drake, who seems to be passing the torch – well, actually, the tattoo.
During his headlining set at the Twenty Years of Wireless festival in London, the Toronto rapper revealed a major change to his ink. Fans noticed that Drizzy replaced LeBron James’ iconic No. 23 St. Vincent-St. Mary’s jersey tattoo with Oklahoma City Thunder Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s No. 2 and the word “Thunder” arched above it.
The move comes after growing signs of tension between the Hot Line Bling rapper and the LA Lakers' forward.
In Drizzy's recent single “What Did I Miss?”, he seemed to call out LeBron for attending Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out” concert amid their ongoing feud, with his line: “I saw bro went to Pop Out with them.”
He’s also taken shots in “Fighting Irish Freestyle” and altered lyrics in “Nonstop” to downplay LeBron references.
Meanwhile, Gilgeous-Alexander, who's a fellow Toronto native, is having a career-defining year. He led the Oklahoma City Thunder to their first NBA title, earned NBA MVP and Finals MVP, and appeared in Drake’s “NOKIA” video wearing his signature Converse sneakers.
