Drake ended his three-night Wireless Festival takeover on Sunday (July 13) with a show with a bang, and fans loved it!
While earlier nights brought out Lauryn Hill, 21 Savage, Latto, and Central Cee, last night (July 13) was all about the icons.
Dancehall legend Vybz Kartel returned to the UK stage for the first time in 20 years, and he was visibly moved by the excitement he was greeted with at London's Finsbury Park! A sea of Jamaican flags filled the crowd as Kartel took over for 90 minutes, delivering an arsenal of hits like “Picture This” and “Romping Shop”, for which he brought out Spice. The "Enchanting" artiste also brought out Moliy for her viral hit "Shake It to the Max".
Drizzy trimmed his own set to give Kartel space. “Bringing the Worl’ Boss home to London after 20 years... that was the priority,” he told fans.
Burna Boy followed with his own 30-minute showcase, rocking the crowd with “Last Last”, “City Boys”, and “Ye”.
On Friday, Lauryn Hill made the park erupt during Drake's set! This time she appeared again during Burna Boy's set and gave a surprise a cappella performance of Killing Me Softly. Much to the "X-Factor" singer's delight, her son, YG Marley, was also called to perform his hit single “Praise Jah in the Moonlight".
Drake didn’t leave fans hanging. He previewed a new collab with Central Cee, which will be dropping on Friday (July 18), and surprised everyone by performing his verse from Rihanna’s “Work”, as fans can recall, a song he had previously sworn off, stating, "I don’t sing that song no more."
The night ended with a quick-fire medley from Rema, including “Baby (Is It a Crime?)” and “Calm Down”. Drake closed with “Hotline Bling” alongside Kartel, Popcaan, and Central Cee, a fitting finish to a night that blended cultures, generations, and genres in true Drake fashion.
