The federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs commenced today (May 12) in Manhattan. Prosecutors allege that over two decades, Combs operated a criminal enterprise involving sex trafficking, coercion, and violence.
Central to the case is his former partner, singer Cassie Ventura, who is expected to testify about years of alleged abuse, including a 2016 assault captured on hotel surveillance footage. During opening statements, the prosecution outlined disturbing allegations of “freak-off” parties allegedly organized by Combs, where women were drugged and coerced into explicit acts, some reportedly filmed for blackmail. LAPD Officer Israel Florez testified that he witnessed the aftermath of such incidents in 2016, underscoring the gravity of the accusations.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains in custody. His defense team admits to past volatile behaviour but maintains that all encounters were consensual and claims the al-legations are financially motivated. The trial is expected to last around eight weeks, with testimonies anticipated from multiple accusers and former staff members.
