Burna’s 2022 album Love, Damini was nominated for Best Global Music Album at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 5), but ended up losing out to Japanese composer Masa Takumi’s Sakura.
With that being said, Burna snagged the same trophy in 2020 for his Twice As Tall LP, which was co-executive produced by Diddy and marked his highest-charting effort in the U.S. at the time.
Fans believed the Bad Boy boss took a swipe at the Nigerian hitmaker after a screenshot of an alleged Instagram Story from Diddy’s account containing some choice words circulated online.
The post said: “I helped you win your first and only Grammy award which I did out kindness, and somehow you thought you could win another without my help ?? Oh okay..,” The post later deleted.
After TMZ and other sites caught wind of the alleged post and shared it on their respective platforms, Diddy pushed back against its validity.
“This is fake..” Diddy said.
However, some fans weren’t convinced, and took to social media to accuse the mogul of lying about the post and backtracking on what he said.
“For the people saying the post was fake it’s real real,” .
“Americans are accusing Diddy of lying that they all saw the post in real time before it got deleted.
Another added: “Why is Diddy lying tho?? I saw this with my two eyes on his story.”
