Legendary Brazilian footballer, Dani Alves has fallen from grace and landed in prison.
The ex-Barcelona star has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub and has been sentenced to four years and six months behind bars.
The sentence was handed out early on Thursday following deliberations by a three-judge panel. The footballer is convicted under Spain’s new sexual liberty law. The law focuses on the lack of consent of victims to determine the sex crime.
The 40-year-old football legend was also ordered to pay 150,000 euros in compensation to the victim and restrained from communicating with her for the next nine years.
The incident took place on December 31, 2022, in the bathroom of a Barcelona nightclub.
